French Onion Soup starter is a long time favorite. This soup is great by the bowl with shredded cheese and croutons or sipped from a mug on a cold winter day. This mix also works well as an ingredient in home-made breads, meatloaf, pot roast, Salisbury steak or as a marinade for steaks and pork chops. Although it is rich in flavor, this mix has neither meat nor meat broth added, making it perfect for those on a meatless diet.
1/2 heaping cup French Onion Soup mix
2 1/2 cups warm water
Blend water & soup mix in saucepan with a
wire whisk. Bring to a boil while stirring.
Reduce heat, simmer 5-10 min. Remove from
heat, cover and let steam for 5 min. to allow
onions to fully hydrate. Serve.
Options: Place toast or croutons in bowl and
cover with shredded cheese, then hot soup.
